About This Route
Norseman is triathlon's dark legend: a 4am leap from a car ferry into a black Norwegian fjord, then a bike leg that climbs out of Eidfjord onto the Hardangervidda — Europe's highest mountain plateau — across 180 cold, exposed kilometres of moor and mountain toward Austbygde, before the run that ends 1,880 metres up Gaustatoppen for the coveted black t-shirt.
Only ~250 athletes get a start each year from thousands in the lottery; finishing is membership of one of sport's smallest clubs. Our 3D printed terrain model renders the fjords and the vidda in dramatic relief with the bike course traced across the roof of Norway.
