Ben Nevis Mountain Track

Ben Nevis is the roof of the British Isles: 1,345 metres of Lochaber granite towering over Fort William. The Mountain Track (once called the Tourist Path or Pony Track) is the classic way up — a 17 km round trip with 1,350 metres of relentless ascent past Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe, up the endless switchbacks of the Red Burn, and across the summit plateau to the observatory ruins and trig point.

Around 150,000 people summit each year — as a standalone achievement, the first leg of the National Three Peaks, or the brutal Ben Nevis Race, run since 1895.
