Col du Galibier from Valloire

The Col du Galibier is the high point of the Tour de France in every sense: 2,642 metres of thin air at the crown of the Alps, climbed from Valloire up 18 kilometres of the Valloirette valley's long false flat before the brutal final hairpins beneath the Grand Galibier's screes. Henri Desgrange's memorial stands just below the pass — this was always his favourite mountain.

Usually ridden as the summit of a Télégraphe–Galibier double, or the roof of the Marmotte, it is the col that makes an alpine trip complete. Our 3D printed terrain model renders the whole massif in relief with the road traced to the pass.
